T etherow Resort in beautiful Bend, Oregon announced recently it will reopen its award- winning 72-par Scottish links-style golf course on March 29 for the 2015 golf season. Tetherow climbed 12 places in Golf Digest's Best Courses you can play list, from 66th to 54th. The course is eager to unveil recent enhancements, including a complete makeover to what David Kidd refers to as "Tetherow's darling hole", hole #17. In addition, subtle upgrades to several tees, greens and green surrounds throughout the course will increase playability and improve agronomics. Open to the public, local residents within 97701 or 97702 zip codes can golf for just $80 through April 2015. Regular rates start at $105. David McLay Kidd, award-winning course ar- chitect of Tetherow golf course believes in the philosophy that the game of golf is never completely static, always adjusting to current thinking and continued understanding of the game and what makes it popular today. McLay says, "Characteristically distinct in the Central Oregon region, the Tetherow course was designed among rugged high desert terrain and forests, making it originally a very ambitious project for this area. We knew it would take time to understand the players and smooth out the course routing to accommo- date all levels of golfers. The enhancements were part of this objective to add more playability to this exhilarating course while improving agronomics." Tetherow golf course renovations included the following: • Signature hole #17, which received a full make- over to ultimately improve the health of the green, reduce wear and tear, and add more playable options for avid and higher handicap players alike. Expanded green size. 4,500 square feet of ad- ditional green surface was installed; Tetherow Resort Opens March Photo courtesy Tetherow GOLF GOLF MARCH15 54-55
